Hello! I'm Ruth Hatfield, a sometime writer, sometime archaeologist from Cambridge, UK. I've been writing stories all my life, beginning with the (sadly unfinished) 'Nutty's Mystery', about a
confused squirrel. Hundreds of stories and millions of words later, my book, 'The Book of Storms', has been published by Hot Key Books! It's the first in a trilogy, so there'll be more...
When I'm at home, I spend a lot of time cycling (Cambridge is nice and flat), and I have a pony, Maia, who likes to gallop and jump, so we're often out around the lanes and bridleways close to
Cambridge trying to find good places to go fast. I love walking and seeing the sky over my head, and watching plants grow. I also love reading books - I grew up without a television, so I spent a
lot of my childhood with my nose buried in a book, and each book showed me yet another world that I often desperately wanted to live in. I've never grown out of the excitement that comes with a
good book - I've never been able to resist that pull into another place, a different time, or the possibility of being another person. Books can be awful, or terrible, or scary, or just utterly
amazing, but sometimes they change our lives!
